Grinding machine for sickle-shaped and circular knives KNECHT A 75

The requirements for crescent and circular knives used in high-performance slicers are very high. The knives must have precisely sharpened edges, perfect cutting angles, and accurate geometry of the cutting edge. And this must be achieved with repeatable precision throughout the entire lifespan of the cutting tools. Precisely sharpened knives enable perfect cutting and precise arrangement of products with a smear-free surface. KNECHT’s sharpening machines for crescent and circular knives ensure the highest quality in grinding and shaping the gear teeth.

Advantages

Knife holding fixture and knife drive

The cutting tools are clamped on universal knife holding fixtures. The grinding feed and the precise rolling of the slicer knives on the grinding wheels are performed by servo drives. This technology ensures nearly wear-free operation of the A 75.

Grinding and deburring

Five servomotor driven axes create precise cutting edges with maximum repeat accuracy. The cutting tools retain the exact same shape over their entire service life. The exactly adjustable grinding pressure is applied pneumatically. The material removal on the slicer knives is minimal.

Circular knives up to 1000 mm (39.8 in)

The A 75 grinds circular knives of all brands from 250-1000 mm (8.8 – 39.4 in) diameter with single and double beveled cutting edges. Here, too, the following applies: Precise grinding, perfect cutting edge angles, absolutely repeatable accurate.

Operation

The A 75 is easy and comfortable to operate via touch panel. For each slicer knife, an individual grinding program consisting of the number of grinding cycles and the selected cutting edge angle is created and stored. When the program is called, the machine automatically adjusts to these values. The required grinding wheels are also shown on the display. The number of grinding programs is unlimited. Updates and remote maintenance are carried out via the Internet.

Applications

The A 75 sickle and circular knife grinding machine grinds sickle shaped knives of all brands up to 1000 mm (39.4 in) and circular knives up to dia. 1000 mm (39.4 in). The machine is simple and easy to operate via touch panel. It provides highest grinding precision.

Cutting tools ground with the A 75 minimize the scrap rate of the cut product. It makes an important contribution to production reliability and quality assurance.

The grinding angle is set continuously on both sides between -5° and 35° via servo drives. The repeat accuracy is 0.1 degrees. Calling up the required grinding program, the A 75 automatically sets itself to the saved angles.

A coolant unit with a capacity of 20 l efficiently prevents the cutting tools from overheating during the grinding process.
