Microwave tunnel SAIREM TMW 150

French company SAIREM specializes in the production of batch and tunnel thawing machines using microwave or radio frequency technology. The product can undergo the thawing process both without packaging and in cardboard or plastic film packaging. Radio frequency waves are mainly used for thawing products in uniform cubes, such as fish. Microwave technology, on the other hand, is suitable for thawing products with irregular shapes. The thawing process from -20°C to -4°C / -2°C takes between 3 to 15 minutes.

SAIREM TMW Microwave Tunnels

The SAIREM TMW microwave tunnel allows for fast tempering or thawing of deeply frozen food. It is suitable for products such as red meat, poultry, fish, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, butter, and more. The characteristic feature of TMW is the utilization of microwave technology to achieve optimal thawing while maintaining quality and uniformity with good microwave efficiency. The large microwave chamber size, microwave length, and cross-coupling of microwaves above and below the blocks are examples of solutions implemented to achieve the best performance and uniformity.

Performance

The TMW 75/150/225 microwave tunnels offer thawing efficiency ranging from 2 t/h to 3 t/h, from -20°C to a final temperature of -4°C / -2°C in 95% of the block. This temperature range is optimal for processing methods such as cubing, grinding, slicing, and portioning. The efficiency calculation is based on thawing blocks with standard dimensions of 600 mm x 400 m x 200 mm and weighing approximately 20/25 kg. If products with high fat content are to be processed, the fat should be evenly distributed within the block; otherwise, the temperature limit for uniformity is -4°C. The tempering efficiency varies depending on the desired final temperature and the type of product (meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, butter, etc.). The maximum microwave power that can be utilized for processing is limited by the products, not the tunnel itself. Thawing programs, i.e., power vs. time, should be selected to achieve a compromise between efficiency and uniformity of thawing.
